Methods

Haitian rum production varies by region, with the north using pot stills for robust rums, and the central and southern areas blending pot and column stills for diverse flavors. At Navèt 1804, we use column still distillation for a pure, vibrant Clairin that honors traditional Haitian techniques with a refined, distinctive flavor.

Harvesting

Embracing sustainable and ethical sugar cane harvesting, we partner with local farmers and use traditional methods like hand harvesting and stubble retention, which enhance soil health and support biodiversity. We incorporate complementary crops, improving the soil’s overall health. By forgoing pesticides and foreign chemicals, our farming practices remain pure and sustainable. We are committed to fair treatment and safe working conditions for our workers, honoring both the environment and the people behind our exceptional Clairin.

Terroir

Léogâne’s unique terroir includes highlands, lowland plains, and coastal areas, each imparting distinct characteristics to our sugar cane. Highlands produce cane with refined sweetness, lowland plains yield robust and aromatic cane, and the coastal regions add a minerality and freshness. At Navèt 1804, we blend these diverse influences to create a Clairin that captures the rich, complex essence of Léogâne.
